S. Bulger
It is with great pride April S. Bulger has joined the Convent
Avenue Baptist Church in spirit and profession as the Executive
Assistant to the Senior Pastor. April practices due diligence
in her duties aiding the Senior Pastor in the performance
of his responsibilities and offering administrative support
to Convent Avenue Family. She maintains the event calendar,
prepares orders of service, manages special projects, assists
as needed in crisis situations, and serves as a helpful and
caring assistant to interface with the congregation and the
senior pastor. Prior to joining Convent Avenue Baptist Church,
she worked as a Special Events Manager for the Juvenile Diabetes
Research Foundation where she managed the event planning,
logistics and financial goals of walk sites in for JDRF’s
New York Chapter of the Walk to Cure Diabetes. Raising $3.3
million dollars, she has set the mark high for developing
successful fundraising and outreach campaigns for a great
cause.
From 2000 to 2005, April worked at the National Basketball
Association, first as Coordinator in the Basketball Communications
Department and then as Event Planner in the Commissioner’s
Office. While in the Commissioner’s Office, she successfully
negotiated and executed contracts for major league-sponsored
events and the Commissioner’s personal requirements.
She managed media communications for NBA All-Star, NBA Draft
Lottery, NBA Finals, NBA Draft, WNBA All-Star, WNBA Finals
and USA Basketball.
Receiving a bachelor’s degree in Communications, from
Virginia Union University in 1995, she joined Alpha Kappa
Alpha Sorority Inc. as she believes in their motto "By
Merit and Culture". She became a member of the Convent
Avenue Baptist Church in 1998, and has since contributed to
the growth and enhancement through her work in ministry as
a Speech & Drama Coach for Saturday Children’s Fellowship,
Church Outing Committee, Young Adult Ministry and the Adult
Usher Board. "Belief is truth in the mind; faith is a
fire in the heart, recognizing that all we do is by His power,
we honor God; and He blesses us."
