Inspirational Ensemble

The Choir
The Inspirational Ensemble was founded in 1982 by former director Juanita David and is presently under the direction of the world-renowned tenor, Professor Gregory H. Hopkins. In addition to his duties as the Ensemble’s director, he is also the Minister of Music for the Convent Avenue Baptist Church, as well as a professor of Music at Howard University, in Washington, D.C. Under his leadership, the Ensemble has grown to over thirty-plus members, primarily composed of young adults.

The Music
The Inspirational Ensemble’s repertoire covers a wide range of Musical styles, which include gospel, contemporary gospel, Negro Spirituals, anthems, African and a number of original compositions written by its members. Theses selections all have one common theme and that is to preach the power of God through Jesus Christ.

The Journey
Under the Holy Spirit’s guidance, the Ensemble has had the opportunity to share our message of hope with both our home church as well as various venues around the world. Most notably, the choir has sung for the honorable William Jefferson Clinton and performed at Carnegie Hall, The Jacob Javits Center, and St. Patrick’s Cathedral in New York, along with successful tours of South America in 1998, 1999 and 2001. While in South America, the choir performed in cities such as Buenos Aires, Cordoba; Mendoza & Montevideo in Argentina, with performances also in Uruguay, Chile, and Brazil.

The Mission
In an ever-changing world full of heartache, despair and people searching for answers to life’s questions, there lies but one entity that man can fully put his trust in. That one being is the almighty God and only those that put their faith in his Son Jesus Christ will experience life in the fullest. It is this same Lord that we, the members of the Inspirational Ensemble have dedicated our lives and talents to. Through our gift of song we have effectively ministered to thousands of people both in the United States and abroad.

The Message
As the Ensemble moves forward, the message remains the same. The sole focus of the group is to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ through song to as many people as possible. Through the ministry of Song, the Choir has helped win souls to Christ and strengthen the spirits of God’s People
