Minister LaTonia B. Jackson

Min. La-Tonia B. Jackson is a native of New York City. Educated by the New York City public school system, Min. Jackson went on to become a telecommunications professional. Min. Jackson has earned a Bachelor of Arts in Behavioral Science and Criminal Justice from John Jay College of Criminal Justice; a Master of Science in Adult Education and Human Resource Development, cum laude from Fordham Graduate School of Education; and a Master of Divinity with a concentration in Biblical Studies from Princeton Theological Seminary, Princeton, NJ.

Min. Jackson began her career in telecommunications in 1993 and has been a dedicated employee for over 15 years with Verizon formerly known as Bell Atlantic. She has served in escalating capacities as an Account Representative and Project Coordinator in the Carrier Account Team Center, Acting Manger and Central Office Technician in the Data Services, CLEC Loop Provisioning, and the Winback Coordination Centers.

Min. Jackson has a zeal for missionary work and social justice. As a result, Min. Jackson served as an intern with the Special Programs Unit at Trenton Courts of Administration, Programs and Procedures in Trenton, NJ in 2004. Her primary function was ensuring that the rights of non-English speaking citizens were being upheld in the court system. She has served as an intern as worship support, in the Christian Education and Youth Department at Greater Universal Baptist Church where the Pastor is Dr. Daniel Dupree. Min. Jackson also assisted in spearheading a relief trip with Princeton Theological Seminary in partnering with Presbyterian Disaster Assistance to aid those devastated in New Orleans and Gautier, Mississippi in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. She assisted in home renovations for displaced families and through donations provided them with major appliances to refurnish their homes. Min. Jackson offers herself to stand in solidarity the disenfranchised, suffering alongside of them, and, hopefully, offering a message that God, too, has not deserted them, but in their pain suffers and in their joy rejoices.

Min. Jackson can only describe her many professional and communal activities as her “call to serve” God’s people. She is an active member of Consortium of Information and Telecommunication Executives, Women’s Association of Verizon Employees, Telecom Pioneers of America, Inc., Native American People of Verizon, Women In Ministry Inc., American Baptist Churches of America USA, served as Treasurer of Association of Black Seminarians, 2005-2006, PTS, a member of American Academy of Religion and New York Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. She has been an active volunteer with American Cancer Society, Red Cross, National Action Network, New York Cares, Inc., Domestic Violence support groups, Those Preaching Women Tour, Miracle on 138th Street with Abyssinian Baptist Church, and Scholastic Season’s Reading.

It is at Convent Avenue Baptist Church that she organizes and continues to develop ministry to meet the holistic needs of young African-Americans and their families. As an advocate for young adults, she is an Associate Minister empowering, equipping, educating and enriching not only the individual but also the community through biblical teaching, corporate worship and genuine fellowship. Min. Jackson is the founder of Hallal Dance Ministry, a mentor, preacher and teacher in her own right.

She has been married to Jermaine Jackson, a telecommunications professional with Verizon for four years. They reside in New York City and have one son, Denell within their blended family.

Min. La-Tonia B. Jackson is a woman of integrity, passion, promise and perseverance. Her gifts and her genuine love for God’s people whom she serves, coupled with her anointing, have made her a woman after God’s own heart. She is often found quoting: II Chronicles 7:14 “If my people who are called by my name humble themselves, pray, seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.”
