Booker T. Morgan
Reverend Morgan serves as the Minister of Evangelism at Convent
Avenue Baptist Church. He grew up in New Jersey where he accepted
Christ as Savior, as a young boy. He received his call to
the Gospel Ministry in 1986.
Reverend Morgan’s call to full time ministry came after
a career in marketing and in the transportation industry.
Reverend Morgan pursued his call to ministry by attending
Moody Bible Institute where he excelled academically. He was
selected to Who’s Who in American Colleges and Universities,
The National Deans List, and The R. A. Torrey Evangelism Scholarship.
Reverend Morgan earned a Bachelor of Arts degree with an emphasis
in Evangelism. He then attended Dallas Theological Seminary
where he earned a Master of Theology degree with an emphasis
in Urban Ministries.
Reverend Morgan spent nine years in the great city of Dallas
Texas. While there he served as Associate Minister in various
Churches, including The Concord Baptist Church of Dallas,
Texas under the leadership of the late Rev Dr. E.K. Bailey,
where he served as Minister of Evangelism. Reverend Morgan
brings a wealth of experience in ministering to the poor and
homeless. Reverend Morgan served as Chaplain at The Union
Gospel Mission Dallas Texas. He preached and taught weekly.
He administrated successful programs that restored men to
their families and society.
Rev. Morgan’s call to come to Convent came under the
ministry of the late Pastor, Rev. Dr. Clarence P. Grant. Reverend
Morgan was charged with the responsibility of supervising
the Sick and Shut-in Ministry as the Minister of Visitation.
He has taken on additional responsibilities since he arrived
in 1999. Reverend Morgan’s current ministry at Convent
is to support the Senior Pastor, Rev. Dr. Jesse T. Williams,
Jr. Reverend Morgan equips and encourages the members of Convent
by leading the Evangelism effort at Convent Avenue Baptist
Church. He also preaches and teaches regularly at the Senior
Pastors direction. He advises and encourages Christian Education
and coordinates the Home Going Services at Convent. His passion
is to see lost people come to Christ.
Rev. Morgan enjoys reading and weight lifting in his spare
time. He enjoys sports and loves to travel. His favorite vacation
place is the Jersey Shore. His favorite food is barbeque.
His life verse is 2ndCorinthains 12:9 “My grace is sufficient
for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.”
