It is important that every child of God who is a member of the body of Christ knows just what their church is all about. Church membership is a special joy in our lives that God has blessed us with. As we go about our daily lives as disciples of Jesus Christ, we can be more effective witnesses if we are all on one accord and when we have a clear sense of purpose as a church family. Convent Avenue Baptist Church is a uniquely gifted and loving church family that God has a special work for. That’s why I have adopted the motto:

A Changed People, Changing the Community and the World for Jesus Christ

These words wonderfully describe the ministry that God has led me to embrace here at Convent Avenue, and my prayer is that you will embrace them along with me as we do ministry together for Jesus Christ.

We are changed, and we have been changed so that we can be catalysts for change in our community and the world for Jesus Christ.

Why do we exist?

Worship
First and foremost, we are created by God to worship and glorify Him. In worship we express our sincere love and desire for our God who created us, sustains us and blesses us. We Praise God for all that God has done and because He is worthy of all the praise. We come to church for a true worship experience every Sunday where we encounter the presence of the living God in meaningful ways.

Discipleship
A disciple is a “learner”. It is someone who has committed themselves to learning and living the teaching of Jesus Christ. We believe that we are called beyond church membership to a life of discipleship, where we study the Word of God, the Holy Bible, and apply it to the way we live our lives.

Stewardship
All of creation was made by God and belongs to God. We believe that God is the source of every blessing that we have, and for that reason we worship and honor God by giving back to Him out of that which He has given to us. A Asteward@ is someone who cares for and manages the possessions of someone else. God has given us life, time, talents, gifts and physical and financial resources. We worship God by giving to Him and His church cheerfully, and in so doing, we honor God.

Fellowship
We believe that Christian fellowship is important to the body of Christ, so we are in relationship with each other and covenant together to love each other, serve each other and care for each other. We love God and we love one another.

Leadership
We believe that God calls and empowers leaders with various gifts to lead the people of God and communicate God-given vision. We support and pray for our leaders, and use our gifts to support them and help their labor be purposeful and joyful.
